I've gained a new perspective of family, home, eastern NC, love, and a friend's journey with What Makes a Home, by photographer Todd Cook.
Thank you for this insight.

The Most Adorable Little Kitty

Look at this pretty little kitty that showed up at my house last night. It is the most adorable and sweetest thing I have ever seen. It pretty much stole my heart in minutes.

Anyone have any good name ideas?

Active Child: Curtis Lane

This new Active Child EP has overwhelmed me. The record is so beautiful and new; music will progress from this point.
Jen Long from The Line of the Best Fit reviews The Curtis Lane EP doesn't disappoint. It's what I've come to hope for from LA's Pat Grossi; echoing beats that clip at the corners of my speakers, a blanket of synths I can feel wrapping around my shoulders, and lyrics that manage to be both deeply personal and entirely accessible.

Rare photo found of slave children

An undated rare photo provided by Keya Morgan, found in a North Carolina attic, depicts two slave children, art historians say. In April, the photo was found at a moving sale in Charlotte, accompanied by a document detailing the sale of John for $1,150 in 1854. The picture was purchased for $30,000 by collector Keya Morgan.

Caught in the Oil

It's been over a month that oil has been spewing into the Gulf. As much as we can expect, the images are still very shocking.

NAPS

NAPS is the hottest new band that is coming out of the Triangle. And, when I say hottest, I mean it; basically, every musician in the band could be a model. The band has a new indy sound that will become a revolution. The sound is a sweet mix of hardcore instrumentals and the soft spoken voice of lead artist D Mike. If you have not picked up their new tape release, you will need to pick it up quickly. And, if you have not seen them live, jump to it, before all shows are impossible to get tickets too.

Sessions at Studio B

Who knew the Triangle was creating a great log of musical recordings and performances featuring local bands.

Winstead Grocery Closes

Small-independent Grocery stores are rare today, especially on the east coast. Last week Winstead Grocery in Bunn, NC, closed it's doors. This store sold many items needed in the kitchen and around the house. It also sold some local produce and farm raised meats. Now, the only remaining grocery in this small town is the large corporate company, Food Lion.
Shopping at small business's, mom n' pop stores, is just one part of having a sustainable economy, having control of where are products and food comes from, and supporting our community.
